Old Business:

1.                   Report on Old Settler’s Days. Zig reports that we made just a bit over $25,000. This is about $2000 less than last year, but we also had some one time expenses that went towards this years festival.  We have set the next two years at the 2nd weekend of July. Will contact with Pat Skinner to confirm and negotiate new rates for changing our weekend. Steve G said he was in contact with someone who may be able to compete with Wal-Mart’s rate and deliver the ice. Dale A suggested changing the name to “Settler’s Days” to coincide with the name of “Settler’s Park”

2.                   There was a contact information sheet mailed to everyone’s current address, please send any changes/additions to Kerri – or email to klwally@charter.net

3.                   Reported that Fatwallet.com pledged up to $50,000 matching funds for the athletic fields. Let’s do what we can to help the committee raise the funds so we can get the maximum benefit out of the pledge. Would like to set up a time to have some of the committee for that fund come to our meetings. Scott asked everyone to think on having the Club donate some funds to the park as we had done to Settler’s Park.

4.                   Dick A, Golf Playday – Playday is Sept 13th. We are lagging in foursomes and in sponsors. Spread the word, we have a minimum the club has to pay for the course. $60/person with steak dinner.

5.                   Cathy B – Candy Day – October 12th is Candy Day. Please sign up with Cathy – also will have information online asap. We are needing a few extra volunteers as we’re going to 2 hour shifts instead of 3 hour shifts.

6.                   Dale A  - Rockton In Bloom is having a reception and awards ceremony Sept 27 & 29th. As $2000 sponsors he feels we should have some presence there. Cost for Banquet at the Clock Tower is $45 and thinks Rockton will receive several awards.

7.                   Dale A – The bi-annual cruise fundraiser is March 2008. Details found on website. We have booked about 5 cabins up to this point. We’ve had 12 -15 in the past. We get a rebate for all cabins booked through us, and over 8 cabins we get an extra bonus.

New Business:

1.                   Received information from LCIF on affordable hearing aides. We can purchase hearing aides for $200 which is a huge discount as normally aides cost up to $2000 an ear. We need to work on getting the word out that we have this available to us.

2.                   Auggie reports Darin from the Vision center at Wal-Mart will come and talk with the club about a discount eye glass program. We also have permission to put an eye glass donation box in their store.

3.                   Request from Rockton Harvest Festival for $300 donation for their annual family event that takes place in Village Green Park on October 27th. Motion by Steve P, second by Jack L to approve donation. Motion Carried.

4.                   Lions Club International Campaign for Sight First is requesting a donation for their fund drive.

5.                   Congratulations to Lion Steve Dickson for winning a season championship this last Friday at Madison International Speedway in the Roto Rooter Bandit Division.

6.                   Scott W asked everyone to think about choosing some committee assignments, as we need more people to fill or help out with different events through the year.

7.                   Discussion on what kind of donation the Lion’s should give to the Rockton Chamber’s Christmas Walk this year.

8.                   Bruce W requested we make some kind of donation to the boat club for use of their facility for our annual steak fry. Motion by Scott W, second by Dale A for a $100 donation.
