Secretary report-Lion Kim Peavy Secretarys report from 01/05/2012 approved 1st- Lion Steve Pomahak, 2nd- Lion Auggie
Treasurer report –Lion Kerri Wallace.. Lion Kerri Wallace was not in attendance therefore this will be tabled until the next meeting on February 16th
Guest Speaker Nicole from the American Cancer Society joined our meeting tonight. Nicole shared some amazing things that the Society does including transportation for the patient to and from treatments. They have multiple programs including- Road to Recovery, Hope Lodge which is like the Ronald McDonald House, Look and Feel Better (Make up and tote bag and wig free of charge), Personal Health Manager tracker, etc.
Old Business:
OSD-Lion Steve Pomahak advised planning is going along fine. Meeting will now be twice monthly in front of the Lions meetings at Fibs.. OSD kick off party will be March 29th at Fibs
Business After Hours Event - Lion Denise Darnell provided a wrap up from the Business After Hours event. It went very well and potentially have 1 new member from it. We received lots of contacts in the Business world and would like to potentially have another one at some point. Lion Denise also advised she and Lion Andy Honkamp are working together on creating a Lions Brochure specific to our club, they will have a template completed for club approval.
Hononegah Road Signage- Lion Jerry Swenson would like to see this project begin to make some headway soon. Lion Kim Peavy advised we will begin this project again very soon
Lions Signage Locations-Lion Kim Peavy advise we need to decide on 3 potential locations for the new signs, after locations are decided the Village has to approve them before installation.
**Location 1 Walmart near Taco Bell
**Location 2 Blackhawk and Route 2
**Location 3 Wagon Lane and Route 2
** Sign 4 is a replacement

Lion Kim Peavy will contact the Village to facilitate.
Tree Initiative- Lion Kim Peavy advised the District goal of planting 100 trees was exceed to a total of 311 currently planted with more slated to be plated in the Spring. Globally there have been 6.6 Million planted.
If we are interested in planting additional trees there are very discounted prices for Arbor Day in April that we can take advantage of, but the trees are very small. To be discussed at a later time.
RORO- Lion Mike Peavy passed around a sign up sheet for volunteers to help during RORO. Volunteers are needed for both the Booth and for the Hearing Bus
New Business:
Lions Upcoming Meetings-Lion Mike Peavy advised the Zone Meeting will be held at Nunzios on March 8th at 6:30PM the cost is $15.00 per person RSVP due by Feb 22nd.
The 1-D District Convention is April 14th at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club. They are again publishing a convention booklet they are selling space this year to help offset the cost. The ads are $20, $40 or $60.00 based on size. There is also an incentive this year for each club that submits 5 ads for local business, people, etc there club will receive one free ad space. Funds due by march 1,2012

There is also a USA/Canadian Leadership Forum coming up on Sept 13-15th in Tampa, FL If interested please see Kim Peavy.
Tour of Rockford Center for Sight and Hearing-Lion Mike Peavy advised the center would like to provide a tour of their facility at a convenient time and date for the club. The club has decided this is something that they would like to do. Tabled to determine a date at the next meeting
Lions License Plate- Lion Kim Peavy advised District Governor Paul Lindstrom is canvassing the club to determine how many club members would be interested in purchasing a Specialty License Plate for $25.00 yearly that would reflect Lions Club. The $25.00 would go to Lions of Illinois to help with fundraising.
Our club advised there were 6 people at our meeting that would be interested
Lion Kim Peavy will report back to District Governor Paul Lindstrom.
LCIF,LIF,Center For Sight and Hearing Donations-Lion Mike Peavy advised District Governor Paul Lindstrom is urging all clubs to review their club financials to determine if a yearly donation has been made to the required areas. There are currently 35 clubs that have not made the yearly required donations. We have tabled this for the next meeting. Lion Kim Peavy will have Lion Kerri Wallace print out the financials for the next meeting regarding the donations.
ADA- American Diabetes Association-Lion Mike Peavy advised for 2012 the Lions Foundation Board of trustees has determined that the Lions Foundation will be soley responsible for raising funds for ADA in 2012. This year as they have done in other years there will be an ALERT DAY which can be done anytime between March 1st and May 31st, 2012. We are able to have a table and pass out items for a donation at a local business or treat it like Candy Day, the options are ours. Lions Foundation will cover all the material costs. The club decided we could integrate this into RORO in March 2012. Lion Kim Peavy will put in an order for supplies.
Camp Lions Of Illinois-Adopt A Camper-Lion Mike Peavy Lions of Illinois is looking for donations for Adopt A Camper the donation per camper is $525.00 although the operating cost per camper is $950.00. The funds will be split between Camp Lions for children and Heller Keller Camp for adults. Both camps service people with Sight and Hearing loss. We will be assigned a camper if we donate and receive a thank you note.
Motion to adopt 2 campers in the amount if $1050.00 1st-Lion Josh Ryan 2nd-Lion Zig.
(We will also review the financials on when the last time we adopted a camper was with Kerri)
Rose Day- Lion Dick Adams passed out some more tickets and advised if there are complaints that the customer should contact the number on their ticket, which is Lion Mike Peavy and Mike will help to facilitate replacement flowers. Please make sure you turn in the Rose Day tickets at each meeting so Dick can have an approx count of how many to order.
