Lion Kerri Wallace passed out a copy of the Treasurers report.  Treasurer  report approved 1st-Lion Josh Ryan 2nd-Lion Kim Peavy

Guest- Terry Keene visited the Rockton Lions Club this evening and made a large donation of $30K to the club $10K to OSD $10K to Wimpys $10K to Lions general fund.  Thank you Terry for your continued support.

Tree Planting Initiative- Lion Kim Peavy is currently waiting for the 2 Buckeye trees to be dug up at the Nursery to be planted very shortly in Old Settlers Park.  There was an amended motion by the executive committee to approve $585.00 to purchase and plant the 2 Buckeyes, this comes with a 1 year warranty also.  The vote was taken via email, the original approved amount was for $500.00

Lions Club Membership Drive -  Lion Denise Darnell has requested Lions Pamphlets if possible to be ordered for Christmas Walk weekend.  Lion Kim Peavy will call Lions International to see if they can be shipped that quickly.

Membership Event-Lion Kim Peavy… Lion Allison Larson advised there was some mis communication between Lions Club and The Chamber office in regards to charging a fee for the attendees. The information that was provided was incorrect and we do not have to charge for this event.  Lion Kim Peavy will work with the chamber for a date we will begin with any of the Thursday meeting dates in Feb or March 2012 with a start time of 5PM and we will include a very light agenda with Thank Yous and maybe a request or 2 that evening.  All attendees to the event are welcome to stay for the meeting also. 

Hononegah Road Signage- Lion Kim Peavy brought pictures of the current sign on Hononegah Road for Rockton Lions Club.  Lion Kim Peavy to obtain prices on purchasing another sign from Lions International.  Lion Dale Adams would like the club to explore putting up additional signs around the outskirts of town since the town has grown , possibly by Walmart.  Lion Kim Peavy will email Lion Ron Nelson a picture of the sign and he will also obtain some pricing.

Lions Annual Christmas Dinner- Lion Kim Peavy has called the Butterfly Club which has openings and the new Gun Club in Roscoe.  The Gun Club is currently not accepting any large parties for a couple of months.   The dinner will be on January 19th, location to be announced.  Lion Kim Peavy will call North Point and La Casa Grande for a possible location. Lion Kim Peavy will also call the Gun Club to verify they will not accept parties in January.

OSD-Lion Josh Brown- The first band has been confirmed for Thursday night 2012.

Fees for 2 Electronic Panels- Lion Josh Brown to call Rock County regarding the panels.  Lion Kerri Wallace to provide Lion Josh Brown with a copy of the bill so Lion Josh Brown will have all the information needed.

Pancake Breakfast/Silent Auction- No representative at the meeting regarding the Silent Auction.  Lion Jack Lovejoy advised he needed a couple of more volunteers for the Pancake Breakfast.  Lion Jack Lovejoy passed around the sign up sheet and all the spots have been filled but if you would still like to volunteer please contact Lion Jack Lovejoy. Jerry Swenson will call the Boy Scouts to make sure they will be helping with the Pancake Breakfast this year.  Jerry Wallace has taken care of the Goldie Floberg Kids transportation to the breakfast.

Chili Cookoff- Lion Josh Ryan-Discussion on a name change for the Cookoff and rather than having The Lions Club in the name put Proceeds will go to Rockton Lions Club.  Josh is looking for a committee he has passed around a sign up sheet for this committee.  The first meeting will be on Tuesday November 22, 2011 upstairs at Fibs at 6:30PM.  The tentative date for the Cookoff will be February 4th at the Legion. 
**** Some points for the committee Can bring in a sanctioned Chili group for a cost of $500.00 but the benefit would be there is a very large following with this group and they will bring 14 competitors.  We would need to follow sanctioned rules with this group. 
**** Need to be thinking about how the competitors can cook their chili. Will have to be done onsite, outside.  Can we locate a rental place or restaurant supply warehouse to assist with donation of some large fryers.

RORO- Lion Scott Wallace checked into some prices for table coverings with silk screening. The cost through his contact would be 2 table coverings for $150.00.  We will discuss further at the next meeting. Lion Kim Peavy will obtain additional prices.

Lions Calendar- Lion Josh Brown.  There are still Lions Calendars available for purchase. Cost is $25.00 per calendar.  There will be 3 drawings weekly to win $50.00 and a drawing on April 14th for $500.00 and Jan 3rd for $1K.  There are also additional drawings for additional winnings.  3 Lions members received calendars at this weeks meeting.  Please contact Lion Kim Peavy if you would to purchase a calendar.

Old Business:
A.  Lion Allison Larson advised Frank Johnson from the Kiwanis has requested a representative from the Rockton Lions Club attend there morning meeting at 6:45AM tomorrow Friday November 18th at Sophias to receive a $300.00 donation to Lions Club.  Frank will also like for this representative to talk a little bit about the Lions Club.  Lion Jerry Swenson will represent the Rockton Lions Club at this meeting.
B.  Lion Kim Peavy passed around The State of Illinois Lions magazine as we have had our Candy Day story published. Also passed around was this months Herald articles that were published on Nov 10th.  There are a couple of retractions that will be printed in the next article of Lions Corner.

Raffle from Jacks Tires- Lion Jack Lovejoy would like to donate a set of tires to be raffled off for the Old Stone Pantry.  Lion Jack Lovejoy to contact Don at the pantry.

New Business:
A.  Lion Kerri Wallace requested the raffle committee do a raffle during Christmas Walk weekend.  Lion Andy Honkamp was not in attendance tonight, he is the chairperson for the Raffle committee.  Lion Kim Peavy will email Andy regarding this and will also send out an email to all Lions members a sign up sheet, with Lion Andy Honkamps approval of the raffle.
B.  Lion Kerri Wallace advised that St Vincent DePaul Food pantry is opening back up and they now have a permanent location.  The number of families that they are serving has grown to approx 189 per week. They currently have 32 volunteers who put in approx 6800 hours yearly. Motion brought to the table for $5K to be donated to St Vincent DePaul Food Pantry from the Wimpys Fund1st-Lion Ron Nelson 2nd- Lion Bruce Werrbach.  Discussion- this is in the same spirit as Wimpys therefore to be taken from that account.
C.  Lion Kerri Wallace advised that St Vincent DePaul Society is doing an event called,” Celebrate the Magic of Christmas” at La Casa Grande the same weekend of Christmas Walk.  They are looking for people/organizations to sponsor a Christmas tree the cost is $250.00 per tree and they will decorate it.  There will be a bidding process for each tree with the proceeds going to St Vincent DePaul Food Pantry.  Motion brought to the table for $250.00 sponsorship including a family 4 pack to OSD 2012.  Family 4 pack will include $10.00 of ride tickets, 4 concert tickets to each concert OSD 2012, also 4 entrance tickets to OSD 2011.  Lion Kerri Wallace will contact them to ensure they would be able to put a sign on the sponsored tree regarding the OSD package rather than putting the package on the tree.  Motion passed 1st-Lion Scott Wallace 2nd-Lion Mike Peavy

Correspondence
Requests:
A.  Rockford Rescue Mission has requested a donation.  Motion brought to the table for $500.00 to be taken out of Wimpys Fund 1st-Lion Dan Bellich 2nd-Lion Scott Wallace… Lion Jerry Swenson will drop off the check to the RRM tomorrow AM.
B.  Heartland Hospice is looking for volunteers if anyone is interested please contact Lion Kim Peavy for details.
C.  Letter from Lillian- Lion Kim Peavy presented and read the letter. Lion Kim Peavy also spoke to Lillians mother who advised the trip to France will cost $4K and Lillian is responsible for raising $2K.  She currently has had a few fund raisers and currently has raised $600.00 This request was denied as it appears to be a personal trip.
