Old & New Business:

Our meetings are normally the first and third Thursdays of the month, however in January, the first Thursday is January 1. The Club decided to move the meetings to the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, so in January the meetings will occur on the 8th and the 22nd

Also, we need to decide the Christmas Party for the year – this year is the 70th anniversary of our club’s charter. We are going to look at having both meetings in December as scheduled, but possibly having one of the January meetings be our Christmas party. More details to follow.

October 10th is Candy Day – contact Cathy B if you want to sign up for a spot.

Christmas Walk – Steve D is already planning the event, the chamber is having a band that night and we’ll have more silent auction items, and do live auction items during the bands breaks. The parade is going to be at 6pm, so there will be more time after it is over for our event.

Steve P asked if we would sponsor the Christmas Walk event. Discussion ensued. Motion by Steve P and 2nd by Paul to donate $500 to the Christmas Walk. Motion passed.

Request by Goldie Floberg for $1000 which is 6.5% of their Special Olympics budget. Motion by Paul and 2nd by Dale for $500 donation. Motion carried.

Passed around information from SHARE, not sure if it is something that suits us or not, but members can read up on it.

Rockford Memorial Development Foundation is buying equipment to test infants hearing. Looking for Lions Club District 1-D to donate 10,000 as a whole. Currently local residents have to travel to Dekalb for this test. Motion by Zig to donate $1000 from the Segzda fund, 2nd by Kathy, motion carried.

Request from the HHS ‘RUDE’ program (Reduce the Use of Drugs in Everyone) – Motion by Jerry and 2nd by Betsy to donate $100 to the program.

Our next Old Settlers Days Meeting will be November 1st at the Legion at 5:00 pm.

Anyone who has not paid their dues by the end of October will be dropped from the club.

We still need someone to take over the Ro/Ro expo this year, it is usually the middle of March. Peggy Hess volunteers to take it on, Thank You Peggy!

Scott also asked if someone would be willing to take over lining up the caterers for our meetings. Kathy G was interested – Thanks!

Adjourn 7:05 pm
