Old/New Business:
- District Governor Ron Fruit will be visiting us on May 19th.
- The Rockton Lions club will not be having a booth at “The Concert” at the Rockford Speedway this year. Due to mis-information regarding the booth being free to the club.
- Walk For Sight-Kim Peavy presented the club with the information regarding Walk For Sight as an opportunity to do something in the summer months while we are not in session to keep The Lions Club in the forefront. There is very little work by club members for this, the idea is that the club members fill out potential people, businesses, etc on a form and turn into the Walk For Sight leaders who contact those entities for sponsorship. The Rockton Lions Club will receive a check for 40% of the dollars generated and the remaining 60% will go to Lions Foundation for Sight programs. We are able to set our own date and time and place. The idea was brought up to do the 3 mile walk on the Bikepath in conjunction with OSD. It was asked for this to be tabled until the next meeting at which time Kim Peavy will provide a more detailed presentation to the club.
- Kerri Wallace provided a list of eye glass recycle centers in the area. Kim will provide to Marianne Mueller and will put on facebook… First National Bank-Rockton, Stillman Valley Bank- Roscoe, McCorkal Funeral home-Rockton, Jacks Tire- South Beloit, Rogers Barber Shop, Shirland School-Shirland, Forest City Therapy-Rockford, American Legion-Rockton, Walmart-Rockton, Illinois Central Bus Company, Cyndys Country Cottage-Rockton .
- There was a question brought up regarding if Walmarts Vision center would provide a discount to those who donate their old eyeglasses (Who was going to check into this? I think it was Josh)
- Dale Adams brought the information regarding the annual cruise there currently are 6 cabins booked and we would really like to see a good showing from The Rockton Lions Club this year. The pricing information will be sent on an email to all club members.
- Raffle License Kerri Wallace discussed the license. 52 raffles per year up to a max of $5K per raffle and $250K per year. Motion passed for Kerri Wallace to complete all the paperwork and submit for the license 1st-kim Peavy 2nd-Josh brown. We will need to set some guidelines regarding other entities “borrowing” or using our license for their raffle. It was asked that the requests would be able to be handled by the Raffle committee and then brought to the club for a vote. Potential raffle committee Kerri Wallace (Treasurer)- Raffle Manager, Andy Honkamp (TailTwister), Ron Nelson.
- Ben Compagnoni’s wife passed away-Is there something we can do for the family- In lieu of flowers they asked for donations to the Talcott library. This was tabled until next meeting. Please be thinking for a discussion
- Dale Adams-Rockin For Rockton has been approved. There is a Facebook page to follow the progress. We will discuss in more detail at the next meeting.
