Correspondence

  1. Dignity newsletter from Goldie Floberg, which lists the Rockton Lion’s as a $1000 donor.
  2. Request from RFB&D for a donation out of Chicago, also thanks us for past support, however the Lion’s has not supported this organization in the past.
  3. Lion’s of Illinois Foundation Thank You letter for our $525.00 donation.

New & Old Business

  1. Rose Day – Dick was unable to attend, but left us instructions to turn in the tickets. If you have any more sales from now til Rose Day, please contact Dick directly so he can get an exact count of roses. As of this meeting there were 141 dozen sold.
  2. Reminder to keep selling sight & sound raffle tickets. Frank took more books (944-949)
  3. Convention: Scott and Kerri will be attending the Convention on March 28/29 and invite any and all Lion’s who can, to attend as well. You may even register at the door.
  4. Ro/Ro – was semi successful. There was some disappointment that the non-for profit aisle seemed poorly attended despite the large number of patrons throughout the rest of the event. We didn’t do well at all with the ADA donations. Motion by Jerry and 2nd by Bart to donate $200 for a total of $207. Special thanks to all those who volunteered their time, it’s much appreciated. A Extra Special thanks to Peggy Hess who sold over 20 dozen roses at the event, as well as solicited several vendors for our tent at OSD.
  5. Steve Pomahac would like to encourage all Lion’s members who can attend to come to the Village board meeting 7 pm on Tuesday March 25th. They will be discussing our request to serve alcohol at the softball tournament during OSD.
  6. Old Settler’s Days Update:
    1. There was a meeting this week of the sponsorship committee, Scott reports that we are considering raising the button pricing by $1.00. This increase will be used for a daily raffle of $250 each on Thurs – Sat, and $2500 on Sunday. The raffles will be ‘must be present to win’ in order to encourage people to stick around. Also the first ones will draw one name, if not present the money will roll over to the next night. Sunday a name will be called until a winner is present. There will be a maximum of 7500 numbered buttons. Sponsors will get 10 numbered buttons and the balance will be blank.
    2. The Pearl City Lions will be in attendance at our next OSD meeting.
    3. Changes in sponsorship levels:

                                                              i.      There will be a VIP Plus level, for $2500 you can sponsor an event or venue

ii.      The VIP I level will be raised to $2000 and will also include a foursome for the golf playday and a hole sponsorship

  1. Casino Trip – Kathy: You need to notify her by April 17th if you plan on going on the trip. There is a minimum we must meet and if we don’t have it we have to cancel by that date. The trip is Sat May 3rd, leaving 10 am from the High School and going to Dubuque IA. For $13.00 each you get lunch and prizes.
  2. Reminder: Next meeting April 3rd with an OSD meeting at 5:30 and regular meeting at 6:30. Thursday April 17th, the meeting will be at the Rockton Inn.
