Meeting Minutes February 21, 2008

 

Meeting Called to order 6:30 pm. 18 members, 2 guests

 

Secretary’s Report:

As Emailed previously to all members. Motion by Marianne, 2nd by Josh to approve, motion carried.

Guests:

    1. Dan Knuth – Boy Scouts Troop #619. Dan gave a presentation on the number of boys scouting this coming year and the supplies they will need to complete the activities they have planned. Many of the supplies are items that will be used up to 10 years.  There were three different levels of ‘need’ as Dan addressed them (re-charter fees, equipment needs, etc). Motion by Jack to fund all priorities, Discussion among members whether to fund up to medium priority or all. Second by Steve P to fund all priorities. Motion passed to donate $5091.00 to the Boy Scout Troop 619. *applause*

    2. Cassandra Leeman, potential new member

 

Correspondence:

  1. Letter from Golden Apple foundation asking if we had any teacher nominations.
  2. Thank you letter from the Pontenberg family for our donation towards Dustin’s recovery.
  3. Beloit Hospice newsletter
  4. Notification from the Community Foundation that our funds were received.

 

 Old Business:

  1. Rose day – April 5th; Dick passed out tickets and posters. We can sell up till April 4th we get paid for what we sell. Delivery is the morning of the 5th, only takes about an hour – we need more Lions to help deliver these roses.
  2. Ice Hogs social event – there was a fair amount of response, Zig will look into getting an exact date.
  3. Scott reminded everyone to sell their sight & sound tickets
  4. Zig – follow up on Candy day. We are required to send Illinois Lions 60% of our proceeds which totals $1334.34. In the past we have donated the balance to the Talcott Library this total is $889.56. Motion by Jerry and a 2nd by Marianne to donate the balance to the library. Motion passed.

 

New Business:

  1. The district 1-D convention is March 28 & 29 in Dixon Illinois. Kerri has forms if anyone is interested in signing up to go.
  2. March 5th is our next meeting; this is a Wednesday Night instead of our normal Thursday. Same times, same place
  3. September 4, 2008 will be our first meeting of the next year. This is also the same date as our Golf Playday. Our meeting will take place during the dinner; even if you don’t golf you can come to the dinner.

 

Motion by Dick 2nd by Josh to adjourn meeting. Motion passed, meeting adjourned 7:15 pm.
