APRIL 5, 2007
President Bellich called to order the regular
meeting of the Rockton Lions Club at 6:30
Motion by Steve Pomahoc to accept the minutes of
March 15, 2007 as presented. Motion carried.
Motion by Scott Wallace second by Steve Pomahoc
to accept the Treasurers’ report as follows:

Motion to accept Treasurer’s report carried
unanimously.
New members, Dean Camacho and Justin Jobst were
given the oath of membership
President Bellich presented Jack Lovejoy with
the Melvin Jones award.
OLD BUSINESS
Steve Pomahoc reported that OSD preparations are
on track. With regard to sponsorship, it has been decided to offer a
multiple year sponsorship program where prices are locked in for a multiple
year period, regardless of any fee increases. Also, this year, the layout
for the festival will be changing, with the Main Stage being placed at the
ball diamond location, but facing towards the river. Food vendors for the
VIP tent will be FIBS and Sam’s Restaurant. Also asked was that all
members reserve the festival dates of July 5th through the 8th,
to volunteer for one of the many work assignments. Steve also reported that
Secretary II will now have a phone number for the Lions Club which is
624-6839.
Kerri Wallace reported that the Lions booth at
Ro-Ro was a success. There were many inquiries regarding membership, Old
Settlers Days in addition to a full box of used eye glasses was collected.
Names were drawn for the VIP buttons with Betty Lane won the drawing. Also
five names were drawn for the general admission buttons (2 each), with Dan
to call the winners. Kerri thanked all those who volunteered to man the
Ro-Ro booth and asked that another member volunteer to chair this event next
year.
NEW BUSINESS
Jan Herbert co-chair of the Rockton in Bloom
campaign stated the Village will be participating in a national contest
concentrating on criteria relative to beautification such as flower
displays, ground cover, and tidiness in addition to heritage, history and
community interest. The Rockton in Bloom committee has chosen a purple and
gold theme, encouraging residents to plant flowers with these colors, though
plantings of any kind would be appreciated.
Motion by Richard Adams second by Bruce Werrbach
to donate $2,000.00 to the Rockton in Bloom campaign. Motion carried
unanimously.
President Bellich presented Ben Compagoni with
the life time membership award. Ben has been a Lions Club member since
October 1, 1956.
Richard Adams reported that Rose Day delivery
will be April 14th. Volunteers are encouraged to meet at the
Ferguson Financial parking lot at 8:00 AM.
New officers for 2007-2009 will be as follows:
President - Scott Wallace
Treasurer - Zig Sekula
Secretary - Kerri Wallace
Vice President - Auggie Christianson
Dale Adams reminded those who were interested,
that the next Caribbean cruise will begin on March 15, 2008 with departure
from San Juan Puerto Rico.
Cathy Bellich reported that Sight and Sound
raffle tickets are due by the next meeting.
Scott Wallace commented that the bus for Hearing
testing would be available in August and thought Wal-Mart may be a good
location. He did add that 3 volunteers will be needed to assist.
President Bellich read the following
correspondence:

Letter from Marilyn Thomas stating that due to
personal reasons she will no longer be able to continue her membership as a
Lion
-
Thank you from the Boy Scouts for the monetary
donation to meet their
charter fees and equipment needs. The Scouts
also noted they will assist in the Rose Day deliveries and Old Settlers
Days.

Thank you from the family of Charles Endress for
the donation to his memorial fund.

4. Invitation to the Rockton Chamber of
Commerce annual dinner. Cost will be
$35.00 per person
Motion by Scott Wallace second by Bruce Werrbach
to approve a donation to the American Red Cross in the amount of $100.00.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Duane second by Dale to approve a
donation to the Lions District annual golf play day in Byron. Motion
carried unanimously.
Motion by Jack Lovejoy second by Dan Bellich to
approve purchasing a foursome the annual Chamber of Commerce golf outing on
June 11th. Motion carried unanimously.
No further business, motion to adjourn at 7 :40
