Restaurant with 16 members present.
Motion by Cathy Bellich second by
Jerry Wallace to accept the secretary ‘s report noting
that Jeff Meads would be contacted for a price on turkeys for the Wimpy’s fund distribution and that Kerri Wallace was
installed as a new Lion’s member. Motion
carried unanimously.
Motion by Steve Pomahac second by John McVay to
approve the Treasurer’s report
which showed a balance of $127,004.00. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Steve Pomahac second by Dan Bellich to approve a donation to the
Beloit Regional Hospice in the amount of $1,000.00. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion by Bruce Werrbach second by Shannon McGaw
to approve a donation in the amount of $500.00 to the Rockton Youth Association
Girls aged 14-16 soft ball league. Motion carried
unanimously.
Cathy Bellich stated she had
mailed out letters asking for donations to the Christmas Walk auction. A list of potential contributors was
distributed among the members to call asking for a donation.
Steve Pomahac
reported he and Kerri Wallace attended the seminar on holding successful
events. Keri stated one idea was to have
something new every year. She also cited
the annual Cranberry Festival in
He also commented that the OSD
budget should be distributed to Corporate Sponsors, which sometimes aids in
garnering more or continued donations, when the sponsors know how the funds are
being used.
Steve also reported that he has
received the contract from Skinner’s Amusements to be the provider of the
amusement rides for next year’s OSD.

Police Chief Steve Dickson brought
the new Defibrillator, purchased with funds donated by the Lions Club and gave
a brief demonstration on how easy the unit was to use. He also noted that it had a self training
mode, which serves as a guide to the operator during an emergency.
NEW BUSINESS
Police Chief Steve Dickson
reported that Officer Dean Camacho has been chosen by his peers for the Officer
of the Year award. Officer Camacho has
been with the Rockton Police Dept. since 1997 and has made a dramatic impact on
members of the department and the community and is an essential part of the
department. Officer Camacho is credited
with 1) In charge of training, 2) instrumental in beginning the Citizen Police
Academy, Bike Rodeo, and the National
Night Out event and 3) a first Vice President of the Dare Association.
Motion by
Shannon McGaw and second by Bruce Werrbach
to approve the nomination of Office Dean Camacho for the Officer of the Year
award.
Motion carried unanimously.
Officer Camacho and his wife will
be invited to the annual Christmas dinner when the award presentation will be
made.
John McVay
questioned why the $50,000.00 made to the Center for Sight and Hearing was not
featured in the Lions Magazine. Shannon McGaw stated she had contacted Director Ray Hughes (a
fellow Lion) and the president Diane Jones, but they have as yet not returned
her phone call.
