Meeting Called to order 6:40 pm – 16 members – 4 Guests
Secretary’s Report:
Report was emailed to everyone and posted online. Motion by Zig and 2nd by Bruce to accept Secretary’s report. Motion passed.

Guests:
Don VanSchelven from the Rockton Food Pantry presented information on the number of families served by the pantry and other services provided.
They will also work with Charlotte and Wimpy’s fund distributing Christmas presents and food baskets. He requested help specifically at Thanksgiving as well in distributing Turkeys to local families.
Dale also mentioned that the Rockton Village Hall also now has a donation box for non perishable food.
Motion by Zig and 2nd by Auggie to donate $1000 to the food pantry. Motion passed.
Bart and Kathy Gustafson and Josh Brown were also in attendance. All three have applied for membership and will be sworn in during our next meeting. We will have five new members sworn in at the next meeting and we encourage all the members who can show up to come.
Correspondence:
We received a letter from the Golden Apple Foundation thanking us for our $1000 donation last month.
New Business:
Letter from Dale Adams, regarding the Roscoe, Rockton, South Beloit “Stateline Mass Transit” system asking for a donation. This service has not yet begun, they are waiting to get the funds needed to run it, the buses are already here and waiting. This service will help older citizens and the handicapped with no other means of transportation to get around the three villages as well connect with Beloit and Rockford. Motion by Auggie and 2nd by Jack to donate $1000. Motion carried.
Letter from Goldie Floberg Center requesting a donation towards their Special Olympics participation. Motion by Zig 2nd by Bruce to donate $1000, Motion carried.
Request from Steve P to send him and Kerri W to the Illinois Special Events training on November 7th. They have gone the last two years and have received a lot of information that has helped during the planning of Old Settler’s Days. Motion by Bruce and 2nd by Zig to pay the $180 registration fee for Steve and Kerri to attend. Motion carried
The Rockton Lion’s Club donation to the annual Christmas Walk will be by sponsoring the VIP reception at the Legion during our auction. Scott read off different choices given to us by a caterer – both the caterer and the Legion have agreed to work with us on pricing for this event. The Club members were encouraged to be on the lookout for good auction items. Motion by Jack 2nd by Zig to spend up to $750 on the VIP sponsorship.
Letter from the Rockton Village Chief of Police requesting a $250 donation to the Rockton Dare program. Motion by Dale 2nd by Bruce to donate, motion carried.
Letter from the Roscoe Girl Scout Troop 215, asking for a donation to offset their annual trip. The trip will cost about $130 per girl and they are also doing various fundraisers to help defray costs. Motion by Dale and 2nd by Laree to donate $260 towards two trips. Motion Carried
Old Business:
Candy Day – October 12th. Please remember your times. Cathy will be back 10/8 if you still need to sign up.
Reminder we will swear in 5 new members at the next meeting.
Committee Assignments: There were several committee assignments that can be passed on to a new chairperson. Josh Brown volunteered to help out Dick Adams for next years’ golf play day. Jan and Bruce volunteered to take over Rose day. Jack will continue with the Pancake breakfast, but asked for some help. Also encouraged any member who wishes to come to the OSD meetings, the next one is 10/18 at 5:30 pm at fibs.
Dale updated us on the bi-annual cruise. Only about 5 cabins have been sold. Seven day cruise March 2008 – various cabins available, see website for details.
Zig reported on “Hog Heaven” a special area to watch an Ice Hogs’ Game as a fun social event for Lion’s Club members and their families. No room there until January, you must have at least 50 people. Cost is $28/person which includes admission and food. Zig will look into specific dates.
