Rockton Lions General Membership Meeting                                                     May 5, 2016 6:30pm  Fibs

Pledge: Led by President Kerri at 6:30pm

President’s Announcements:
Down to our last two meetings. Going to try and get through everything so we have a clean slate
Awards:
Patch and certificate for holding a successful sight and hearing event.
Trivia Night fundraiser for having the most lions present, trophy for 4th place, our name went on donation along with Rockford Noon Lions.
State Convention May 21st

Guests/New Members:
Guests Jerry Bowgren and Lisa Washington owner of Taylor + Max

Secretary’s Report: 

Motion to approve John Peterson seconded by Pat Hoey. Motion approved unopposed.

Treasurer’s Report:

Allison not able to be here. She emailed report out. It will be forwarded on with minutes.

Tail Twister:

Lion came back from Scott Wallace and was passed on to Dan Bellich.

Lori is a grandma, she talked to her son who was safely deployed and SHE’S a GRANDMA
Sherry daughter is graduating from college
Kerri going on vacation and she only has two meetings left
Pat Hoey survivied the month of April
Kerri special Olympics bowling rocked
Tami to Leo Club for special event
John sold 5 houses and he was happy to have a day off
Tami Packers drafted Boylan player
Marla her son was in senior spotlight at school
Kevin he was off today
Chris Cubs have the best record in baseball

Committees:
Leo Club WCSE Coop special event, two entries missed registration for spring games. Coordinated with track team. Special Olympics bowling averaging 22 athletes (not the same ones each time either). Started year with six athletes. Leo count is at 44. Group supporting team Saturday. Lining up volunteers for OSD. Just had elections, Justin will get list to Tami. Awards night presentations in the works for outgoing seniors.
OSD Update: Going well. Flier done in a couple of weeks.  Derek is sending around sign-up sheet to sell beer tickets. Wants club to have first dibs. Tami and Steve went to SoBo Lions and asked for their help and received word back that they would like to help.
Member Awards: Kerri has link ready to send out for nominations. Same awards as last year but spark plug changed slightly (nominees join time frame changed).  Link will go out tonight. Open until June 30th. Space for comments.

BBQ & Brews: Kerri spoke with Priscilla. Event will be held at Rockford Speedway. Pulling their liquor license. Needs just soda sales, ticket takers, & beer servers. Beer is a little bit different this year. New Year, new law regarding for profit groups-there is a course that has to be taken. Cost of course would be worked into our contract. Two day event. September 2nd 3rd. Not much interest from general membership this time around for beer and front gate. Possible Leo involvement with the pop sales, Kerri will check with Priscilla.

Steak Fry August 13th:  RSVP will be coming out soon. Kerri has had a couple of folks set up to help. Kerri and Scott’s house. Swearing in new members, new officers too. Kerri will reach out to IDG Pam Graney to invite her.

Dues Due by June 30th: Dues invoices will be going out very soon. Please get payments in promptly
Spring planting: Sunday May 15th tentative day for planting per Lindsey at 9am

Shelter has been ordered. Hopefully the next 30 days will see some progress. Located to the left (North) of the concession stand.
Dedication of bench for Ben possibly this summer when his family is back in town.

Business from the floor
Requests and Thanks yous: District 1D Golf Outing on budget for $500; 2016 Fish and Fun pre-approved $1000; Alports Syndrome, on budget for $500.
Dale: Lions have always been supportive of veterans. Reunion in Washington DC being arranged and they are looking for help offsetting bus costs. Question asked about if it helps our local veterans. Cost for bus is $1200. Motion made by Derrick for full $1200 seconded by Karen. Questions raised about providing more. No need. Motion passed unopposed.
Cathy Bellich: Rockton resident trying to go back to college. Legally blind from genetic issues. Only 50 documented cases in the world that have this issue He is looking for help purchasing a computer to help with schooling.  3 bids presented ranging from $2200-3000. Motion made to provide up to $2500 to the vendor of the computer of choice by Steve P. seconded by Lion Jeanna. Motion carried unopposed.
David: shirts available to order. Kim has t-shirts
Jack needs to speak with Swansons to settle up his donation
Pat Hoey talked about Special Olympics. May 20th Cop on the top of Dunkin Donuts.
Next Thursday memorial for fallen officers will be in Rockton 7pm Old Stone Church.
Sight and Sounds tickets due no later than Monday
