Next meeting Wednesday, February 4th due to Zone Meeting being on the 5th.
Rockford Evening Lions, Beloit Lions, and another Lions club have asked to help at OSD.
Discussion ensued about third club and the general consensus of the group was that we would politely decline their offer to assist. Feelings were that it is a good idea to let them fill the need in the community they saw on their own merits and to keep our activities separate at this time.
Rockton/Roscoe Boy scouts helping with trash pickup.
Rockton Troop raised the question of how the funds they earn from recycling will be split among the troops. Discussion ensued and the group came to the conclusion that this would be for the two troops to work out between them. It would be a great team building exercise for them.
Separate area for aluminum disposal?
Lion David Kiesewetter will be having a meeting with the Rockton Troop as liaison and will talk to them about the recycling money split suggestion.

Camp Lions-Request for sponsorship for 2015 year. $525 per camper. Previous years have been for 2 campers. Lion Karen Martin motioned to sponsor two campers again. Lion Rhonda Fair seconded. Discussion was held and Lion Steve Shannon asked why we couldn’t sponsor three campers? More discussion and Lion Karen amended her motion to include three camper sponsorships, Lion Rhonda seconded motion passed without opposition.
Lions Club International Foundation. Donations here can be designated for many different avenues. Disaster Relief is one. By donating the club earns Melvin Jones awards to be given at the club level. Discussion ensued and group agreed to table this request until we can get a budget together and determine the source of the donation (which fundraiser) and the amount. Topics of keeping the money local came up and it was shared that LCIF does offer grants for things such as swings for the disabled, Habitat for Humanity, etc.

From the floor:
Lion Brent Murray shared that The Village is getting a comprehensive plan for 5-25 years out. They are looking for individuals to sit on a committee for a grass roots approach to this plan. One does not need to be a Rockton resident to participate.
The Village is also looking for members to sit on the Historical Preservation Committee. For this one must be a Rockton resident.

Motion to adjourn made by Lion Scott Wallace seconded by Lion John Peterson after the 50/50 drawing. Motion passed unopposed.
Respectfully submitted

Lion Karen Martin
