President’s Announcements

Rockton won Small Town Showdown with 97ZOK and the party is Friday morning at Fibs. We would like to have a strong Rockton Lions presence there.

Lions of IL Foundation has moved to its new home in Sycamore, IL
State Convention is May 14-17th in Bloomington, IL

Lion Steve Boettger from the Kirkland Lions
Representing Birdies for Charity. We had the highest earning district last year. Happens at the John Deere Classic. Birdies are counted over the entire event. Monies raised go into the Endowment Fund. $25 million is the goal for the fund to make is self-sufficient.
Fairdale is having a cleanup day where they are taking in help from the general public on Saturday and Sunday. Meet at Kirkland Fire Dept. They have a TON of supplies and don’t need any more tangible goods. Just cash and gift cards at this time. They are finding debris as far as Harvard from Fairdale tornado.
You can send monetary donations to Kirkland Lions Club: PO Box 594, Kirkland, IL 60146.
Lion Tami Verstraete motioned that we reallocate the gift cards set aside for Washington, IL and give them to Lion Steve Boettger to distribute to tornado victims in his area. Lion John Peterson seconded and motion carried.

Christine and Eric Steinmetz who have recently moved from Kansas City
Brian Hansmeier representing his fundraiser to benefit the memorial scholarship for his brother Todd. July 11th Brewfest from 1-6pm w/ 2 bands. Looking to use our OSD fencing, barricades, and electrical. He would also appreciate a monetary donation.

Questions raised on viability of using a Roscoe business’ liquor license in Rockton. (Backyard Grill and Bar)
Liability Insurance has been sponsored.
1000+ people anticipated at the event.
Looking for radio coverage as well.
Scholarship is being tailored to benefit the music and arts students.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes will be mailed before next meeting.

Treasurer’s Report: Motion to approve made by Lion John Peterson seconded by Lion Derrick Lander. Motion to approve passed unopposed.

Tailtwister was absent. Lion Scott Wallace made motion to fine the Tailtwister $10. Motion seconded and passed. Lion Scott gave Lion Allison the $10 from Lion Rhonda for being absent. = )

Steak Fry: August is the plan. Consensus was for a Saturday.
T-Shirt Order: Lion David Kiesewetter is looking into local options but they do not have license to use the logo. Lion Steve Boettger shared that there is a shop in Sycamore that has full franchise to use the International logo.

Lions Election: All nominees were elected, Kerri Wallace President, John Peterson Vice President, Brent Murray 2nd VP, Directors Jerry Wallace, Jim Sahlstrom, August Christopher and Monique Weaver, Secretary Karen Martin, Treasurer Allison Ebany, Tail Twister Kevin King, Lion Tamer David Kiesewetter, Past President Jerry Swenson. Welcome to our new board members, and a big thank you to our outgoing members, your service is appreciated.

Motion to adjourn after 50/50 drawing was made and passed without opposition.
