Congratulations to Tami Verstraete 2014/15 Rockton Lion of The Year

Our largest fundraiser Old Settlers Days June 18-21 was a huge success - Thank you to everyone who supported us this year!

The Rockton Lions of Rockton, IL have been serving the state-line area for over 76 years, and we aren't slowing down any time soon!. We have many local fund-raisers and service projects such as Candy Day, Flower Day, Christmas Auction, delivering Wimpy's Fund gifts, hearing screening, blood drives, providing eye glasses to low income children, and Old Settlers Days to name a few. The profits from the fund raisers are funneled directly back into our community serving the needs of other organizations and individuals, while focusing on sight and sound related disabilities. Watch for us every year at the Ro/Ro expo with the Lions of Illinois hearing bus and FREE hearing exams.

We do all this while having a great time together. Our club is now one of the largest in District 1D, with over 70 members and an average meeting attendance of over 60%. Think about joining the Rockton Lions Club, or volunteering for one of our many events. Visitors are invited to come to meetings at any time, and you will probably be surprised to find that Lions isn't what you think. If you are interested in coming to an orientation session to learn what we are about, please find more information here.

As of October, 2015 we have chartered the Hononegah Leo Club. The Leo Club is open to all Hononegah High School Students. Meetings are twice a month on Wednesdays at 8 am and 3:15pm. Projects include Wimpy's fund toy drive, special olympics, Old Settlers Days and more!! We have a special focus on integrating life skills and general education students together to help in community projects. See faculty advisor Justin Wieman or Lions Club Liason advisor Tami Verstraete for more information! This is a great opportunity for the youth in our town to learn about service and leadership!

We have eye glass recycling boxes all over the stateline. If you see a box with this logo, please bring your old eyeglasses & cases, hearing aids and cell phones. We deliver them to The Center For Sight & Hearing in Rockford. Local Lions clean them and match them up with needy recipients all around the world.
